British designer Bethan Gray grew up in Wales and worked for a decade at Habitat, becoming head of design, before setting up her own London label in 2008.
Gray is known for furniture that starts with a narrative and is realised with skilled craftspeople. The Nizwa cabinet and chest, whose patterned shell and brass inlay were inspired by travels in Oman, became her signature, made with the Shamsian family of artisans. The Dhow chest of drawers and the Lustre and Band dining tables continue that exploration of pattern, material and place. Her pieces are sold through leading international stores.
With several Elle Decoration British Design Awards to her name, Gray has become among Britain’s most recognised furniture designers, known for keeping traditional crafts alive through contemporary design.
